INTERVIEW

"From Catalonia
to the Americas:
Pol Esquivel's journey
in Ventós"

How long have you been working at Ventós?

I have been at Ventós for 9 years.

What is your daily routine

Manage sales for the American market (North America, Central America and Andean Community countries) and provide support to the 3 subsidiaries we have in those regions (USA, Mexico and Colombia).

What sets Ventós apart in the market?

There are many things I could highlight; the wide variety of products in stock (more than 3,000 references), subsidiaries located in strategic points for the industry, prestigious representations… But without a doubt the greatest strength is customer service. We always say that this is a people business, and Ventós invests heavily in personnel with the objective that excellence in service is non-negotiable.

What do you like most about your work?

Dynamism in day-to-day tasks. Working with raw materials often causes radical changes from one moment to the next (for example in prices or availability) and we must adapt quickly to very changing situations. This keeps us alert since we always have new projects/challenges ahead. I also have the opportunity to travel and be in direct contact with people from other countries, nationalities and cultures and these are personally very enriching experiences.

What would you mix a Gin-tonic with?

With grapefruit, it gives a "touch" different from the classic lime.

What smells transport you back to your childhood?

The smells of countryside and mountains since I spent much of my childhood in a small town in Central Catalonia.

Your ideal vacation destination? What would your perfect vacation be like?

Any sunny beach destination that isn't overcrowded will do for me (difficult nowadays).

What is your main character trait?

Rationality. It is important to take that small pause to think, understand and evaluate before acting.

What style of music do you listen to? Favorite singer/artist?

At each stage of life (childhood, adolescence, youth…) different artists and music styles accompany you, I couldn't stick to just one.

What is your favorite hobby?

I have always enjoyed sports in general and biographical reading, but currently my wife and I dedicate much of our free time to spending time with our daughters. The activity is secondary as long as it's with them.

If a film director offered to make a movie about your life, which actor or actress would you like to play your character?

Matthew McConaughey, even though he's quite a few years older than me.

Would you prefer to travel to the past or to the future?

I prefer to live in the present, but if I absolutely had to choose, I would travel to the past to relive moments from my childhood.
