1916
Ernesto Ventós Casadevall (1894-1933)
Ernesto Ventós Casadevall started his Spanish essence distillation company in 1916. Over the following years, he expanded into producing various derivatives and representing major foreign brands in Spain.

1940
Ernesto Ventós Ravetllat (1921-2012)
In the 1940s, Ernesto Ventós Ravetllat revived the family essential oils business at the workshop founded by his father on Carrer de Descatllar in Barcelona, once it had been renovated after the destruction of the Civil War.

part of the business was dedicated to representing major international brands that were leaders in the flavors and fragrances sector.

1987
Jordi Calonge
(Barcelona, 1961)
To ensure continued service to its clients, Ernesto Ventós Ravetllat delegated the management of the company to Jordi Calonge (Barcelona, 1961) ) in March of 1987. The first phase of Jordi’s business strategy involved surrounding himself with a young team that could bring fresh momentum to the company.
The objective was to create a commercial and customer service structure to serve the domestic market for raw materials used in flavors and fragrances.
1990
Jordi Calonge's next phase at Ventós got off to a successful start, with the company experiencing steady growth.
More personnel were needed, along with more space to accommodate them, so a plot of land was purchased in the town of Cornellà in 1988.
In 1990, EVSA moved to the new facilities where it acquired the first forklift for the warehouse and the first gas chromatograph for the laboratory. These changes led to a 72% increase in exports by the late 1990s.

1997
The company's economic growth necessitated an expansion of the facilities and offices. In December 1997, EVSA acquired Nestlé’s former Camy ice cream facility in Sant Just Desvern (Barcelona).
Work began on renovating and expanding the facility, which would eventually house offices, a warehouse, and a laboratory. The relocation of the headquarters to Sant Just Desvern was completed in March of 2001.
2001
After the move to Sant Just Desvern was completed
in 2001, the warehouse was divided into different zones:
the cold storage area for optimal preservation of certain essences; the flammable products area; the repackaging section; the laboratory; and areas dedicated to receiving and dispatching goods.
This was also a period of international expansion for Ventós, marked by the opening of a subsidiary in Brazil – a strategic step that consolidated the company's presence in new markets and strengthened its global vision.

2008
The workforce continued to grow in the first decade of the 21st century, as did revenue and the product portfolio.
By this point, Ventós was distributing products from many of the industry’s world-leading companies.
This meant that the company once again outgrew its facilities, so a new building was constructed alongside the original one, which now serves as Ventós' headquarters on Carretera Reial in Sant Just Desvern.
The building was officially opened in 2008.
